Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there! I wasn't exactly excited about Mother's Day this year, considering that Tom wouldn't be home, AGAIN, and to be honest, it was a pretty crappy week! Hospitals, sick kids and no husband aren't exactly my cup of tea.

As I talked to a friend at church today, I told her how I don't like holidays if Tom's not here. I later decided that I must have sounded pretty ungrateful. After all, I did get a Mother's Day wake-up call from my hubby in Singapore, and I got a fantastic card from Sammie and Tommy this morning.

I also have the wonderful mother who raised me (how hard could it have been--I'm always easy, right Mom? :) I also have my second mom, who is not the stereotypical mother-in-law. I love her to pieces and talk to her almost every day.

And then there's my two little kiddos--the ones the Lord has entrusted me to raise. I still remember the first time they handed me little Sammie--she had my same face and a full head of soft, dark hair (I was so excited it wasn't red like mine!). Then I remember the first time I was able to hold Tommy--he was two days old in the NICU. He had a cute little old man face with a skiff of dark hair (yay, again--not red!).

So, looking back, I guess I am grateful it is Mother's Day, and most of all, for the opportunity to be a mother. It's the hardest, yet most rewarding, job I've ever had!

Sorry to hear about the hospital adventure! Brynlee has been sick too, it's no fun!
