Earlier this evening we wandered around our local Borders store. Book stores seem to be a hit with the whole family. Tom likes to look at magazines and airplane books (of course), Sammie heads for the chapter books in the children's area, and Tommy is fascinated by anything with animals, cars, or airplanes (or Dora, or Diego, or SpongeBob, or Little Einsteins, etc., etc.,). I usually stick to the clearance sections.
After a few minutes Sam had found some Junie B. books, Tom found a WWII aicraft book (which I'm positive will sit on the shelf and collect dust, but whatever keeps him happy, right?), and Tommy found a book called "Things That Go." As I wandered through the clearance racks, I came across a World Atlas with flip-chart maps for all the different countries. We've been commenting for a while that I need a world map so I can identify with the different places Tom travels. I figured it was a bargain for only $8. For marrying a pilot, I'm definitely not very smart w/ geography, so this should come in pretty useful!
Keep in mind that I went to high school in a very small town (student body of 350!), and my geography class consisted of pulling out our colored pencils and coloring maps while our teacher (also the boys' basketball coach) either reviewed videos of games or left the room.
So here's to hoping it was money well spent and I'll get smarter-er about da world I live in!
