Birthday Girl

Much to her excitement and my dismay, today is Sammie's 8th birthday.

Last night I started reminiscing about the day she was born. I remember being so nervous on the drive to the hospital that I told Tom to turn around and go back home. Obviously we didn't, because 18 hours later we had a very beautiful baby girl. I remember tears of joy running down my face as they handed me this new little creature with big brown eyes and dark hair as soft as a feather. Tom was proud as a peacock and held her all the time--even did late night feedings, baths, and dirty diapers!

What a blessing she has been in our lives. Even though her fiery personality is challenging at times, she brings me companionship when Daddy's on the road and non-stop entertainment. Everything from broken bones, stitches, and missing front teeth, to yelling at "idiot" drivers on the road, our little Toots keeps us hopping, and life wouldn't be the same without her.

Happy Birthday, Sam-I-Am!
