A Mother's Reward

I have heard it said before that there is nothing so hard, nor rewarding, as being a mother. I'm finding that to be very true.

There are days when Tom is on the road and Tommy is a little monster--I think to myself, "This kid!!! Thank heavens I only have two!"

Yet there are other times, like last night, when I feel like my heart will burst! Tommy did a quick 24 hour trip to Utah w/ Grandma. I know he wasn't gone for long, but I missed him nonetheless.

When Tom pushed him in the stroller through the security checkpoint, Tommy saw me and grinned and grinned. The smile was so cute that I couldn't resist pulling him out of the stroller and holding him. Once I picked him up he hugged me tight and giggled and giggled, as if to say, "Yeah, it's my mommy!" He hugged me for the next few minutes as we walked through the airport. Times like that are definitely rewarding.
