When Tom and I were first engaged, this is how he described his Grandma: "It's like she's 16 in a 70-year-old's body." That's how I will always remember her too--young, vivacious, stylish--a different leather purse to match her leather shoes.
She has always been so generous with us and so supportive with Tom's flying. Whenever he had an upgrade or finished stressful training, it was always followed by a card in the mail. Tom was fortunate in the past few years to fly to Oregon frequently. He'd meet up with Grandma and Grandpa for lunch in Eugene or a New Year's Day dinner in Portland. This past year he loved to call Grandma from different places in the world to let her know where his travels had taken him. We'll miss her voice on the phone, always so full of life, even when we knew she didn't feel good.
Tom seems tough on the surface, but he's a teddy bear at heart, and had a hard time at the funeral. I think we all cried during the wonderful video Jeff created to honor Grandma and Grandpa's 65th wedding anniversary.
We love you Grandma!
